the books i am loving right now

the books with i feel i will remember

books

- new american stories

language is a drug, but a short story cannot be smoked.you can't inject it.stories don't come bottled as a cream. all these words on the cover were enough to ask me pull this book out from the shelf.

- the penguin book of the contemporary british short stories

i love books with yellow cover but that's not the reason i picked this book i could see the name of the authors flashing back neil gaiman, ali smith and few more who i know through their words.

book i loved the wisdom of Rilke

my first introduction with Rilke was through the bookt letters to a young poet his book taught me a lot about poets life and philosophy for now its the wisdom of rilke which is on my bedside table some of few topics which i loved in this book is his insight on art language nd love.
some of the favourite quotes from this book.

language

in what soil of misery we poet moles are digging around, never sure where we will push up and who might devour us at that very spot where we stick our dusty nose out of the soil.

art

art presents itself asa way of life, not unlike religion, science and socialism. it differs from these other modes of understanding only in that it is not a product of its time and appears, as it were, as the worldview of the ultimate goal.

love

there is no force in the world but love, and when you carry it within you, if you simply have it, even if you remain baffled as to how to use it, it will work its radiant effect and help you out of and beyond yourself one must never lose this belief , one must simply (and if it were nothing else}endure in it.

book review - my friend my enemy - Ismat Chughtai

This book on non fiction by Ismat Chughtai has many windows about the life which I have not seen. I specially loved the essay on Manto by her in which she painted about his life in a tragic way.
the essay my friend my enemy show two sides of her life while one part talk about her good heart the other part talks what she couldn't understand in manto

some of my favourite quotes.

"will god break this brass shell one day and come out."

"now it doesn't matter if the world refers to the heroine of contemporary literature as immodest or repugnant because our times have allocated the status of a heroine to her.She is the brick formed as a result of history's upheavals, a brick that has found its place in the construction design."

"literature and life, literature and society, and literature and history go hand in hand. If any of these is separated from the other it will be destroyed altogether. In other words, a vacuum will be created is literature is cut off from life and the hero is separated from the heroine.

i don't know - prose

I still don't know when I read about Rumi I think it was accidental just the way I found my way through blogosphere and I was struck by his words but I never knew one day I myself would be searching my own way out of words
I don't know how or why words why this urge to write it all on pages knowing one day I myself will be dust all I know maybe one day I will be free maybe one day I wont be trapped trying always a way to speak
I don't know where these words will reach what will be the fate but as a poet that's not my job I am meant to hold the pen not wait and watch
I don't know why this fear why the inhibition why we are scared to hold it all why we need to write why poems one by one ..
I don't know,

book i loved - an unfinished song

1- a lamp is lit in woman's eye.\,
that souls else lost on earth
remember angels by .

2 - we, are we not as notes of music are
   to one another though dissimilar
such difference without discord as can make
those sweetest sounds in which all spirits shake
as trembling leaves in a continuous air?

few poems from the book An unfinished song which is translation of Swarnakumari Debi Ghosal's Bengali novel Kahake pulished in 1898 " to whom " or an indian love story .

when I picked this book from the library I thought its a poem book but I was wrong its a story book written by sister of Rabndranath Tagore, so yes it does give a peek of woman during that time what enthralled me was the voice and the beauty of that time captured elegantly I will be looking for more books by the same author read this book to know india which we will never see.

notes after reading elif shafaq - three daughters of eve

how do you feel when you pick a book thinking it will transform you take you somewhere else maybe I got to know more about Istanbul culture and the way woman are brought up but later the story drifts the books drifts between present and past the tales weaved in oxford university and the character of professor Azur was something which I couldn't relate so this one is not a soft book which will stay with this book yes is a page turner but somehow the ending deceived me .

my notes after reading - THREE DAUGHTERS OF EVE

when letters bring back words ..

Yet again a book
Full of letters pictures
Like a cracked mirror
And I held it
Tried my best to
Put the pieces together

silent rain and the beauty of it - poetry

silent rain
and the boxed up feelings
slowly spilling on paper..
silent rain
and wildflowers
bloomed yet again..
Silent rain
And my solitude
Speaking again to me
Silent rain
And the cemetery
Still hides secrets
Deep within

we all are one - poetry

We all are one
If only you could
See the world as one
Instead of different part
We all are united
Its the same moon and stars
Lets write peace
And heal crack
Of the world
Lets be poet for peace
And show we are together
Let poetry heals
Our heart
Let spread just
Peace and love,..

For poets
Where they weave
