HANDMADE RAKHIS AND SOME MEMORY TO SHARE

Vanis RAKHI EVENT OF BLOGOSPHERE inspired me to create rakhis,..this is the first time i tried making rakhis on my own,..yesterday got felt material to be used as base other things i already had,..i started with rakhi making at around 1:00am and finished by 4 ,.thought of publishing this post at 4 but i was too tired,..so doing now,..while making rakhi i missed my younger brother too who is no more now,.we celebrated just one rakshabandhan together as he died when he was just one and a half yr old,.he was suffering from cancer,..couldnt control my tears while making rakhi...and could understand pain of my parents more now ,,.coming 15th august will be his 18th death anniversary,..this post is dedicated to him,..i dont ahve much memories of him,..he was there with us for really short time,..miss him lotz thats wht i can say,,,
VANIS THANKS A LOT FOR HOSTING THIS WONDERFUL EVENT,.
MY ENTRIES IN THIS FIRST RAKHI HAVE USED YELLOW COLOUR FELT CLOTH AS BASE,WITH HELP OF SEQUINS,BEADS AND SILVER THREAD HAVE MADE SWASTIK AND FOR THE TIEING RIBBONS I HAVE USED EMBROIDERY THREAD AND WOODEN BEADS.
IN THE SECOND IMAGE BELOW I HAVE DONE THE SAME PROCEDURE AS ABOVE ,I TRIED MAKING KALASH BUT COULDNT GET THE SHAPE PROPERLY...
IN THE PIC BELOW I HAVE USED WOODEN BEADS TO DESIGN THE RAKHI AND EMBRODERY THREAD TOO ,OTHER PROCEDURE IS SAME AS MENTIONED ABOVE.

ALL THE RAKHIS GO TO THE
HAPPY HOSTING VANI,..WILL BE BACK WITH MORE,,,;-)

Rakhi is close to me too... I too lost one of my brother:( when he was 18. Chennaites usually wont celebrate rakhi, that time it was fashion and I did tied to him only for one year.... he gave me ear-rings... still I hold them to my heart :) .....

This event is so close to both of us I guess :)

BTW, what were you doing till 4 am... I think u passed to me too... I slept around 5.45 am ;) was too disturbed and depressed about this house thing:(

Very touchy post..I don't have a brother but always tied it to some or the other class guys ;) who were naughty. My mom craved for a boy and she had all daughters so Akash is now center of love to my parents! My niece sends in her wishes to him every year. This is really a nice event :)

Very sorry to hear about ur brother dear...But dont worry, he would be surely around u seeing ur rakhis...this time u are the first to post for the event i guess

Felt really sorry to hear about ur brother ;(, feeling very down... m missing my brother who is in India... we havent celebrated rakhi together since last 5 years.... but this time I have made rakhis too... will post them soon...
